Our Ingredients Set Us Apart

Everyone has used a bar of soap in their life however, most people are not familiar with how soap is made and the elements that differentiates one bar of soap from the next. Without dragging you back through high school science class, in brief, soap is made from the chemical reaction between fats/oils (acid) and lye (alkali) through a process called saponification. In cold process soapmaking, plant and animal fats (oils and/or butters) are combined with a sodium hydroxide (lye) solution to make soap. When formulated properly, no lye remains in the resulting soap.

While the combination of fats/oils and lye will produce soap, it is the specific fats/oils and other components (e.g., milk, clays, extracts, etc.) that add the attributes that distinguish one soap from another. Based on the ingredients (fats/oils and other components) used, the characteristics of soaps can vary significantly.

At Majestic R&R, we intentionally use luxury ingredients in amounts that contribute extraordinary qualities to the soaps we make. As a result, at least 33% of our soap recipes are made of luxury ingredients. For the sake of comparison, below is the list of our base ingredients compared to the base and premium base ingredients for a popular, nationwide handmade soap chain.

Ingredients are listed in descending order of predominance with an asterisk (*) indicating the luxury ingredients.

As you can see from the lists, our base recipe has more luxury ingredients, and at higher predominance, than the premium base recipe for the popular nationwide handmade soap chain. Our ingredients result in hard, long-lasting soap bars, with rich creamy lather, that does not strip your skin’s natural moisture. Our soaps not only look, smell, and feel great; they also contain deluxe ingredients that have phenomenal skin-loving qualities.
